Although they are best known for their association with solar power, inverters are not limited to electrical use. There are in our daily lives. In fact, you can have one and do not know. Do you have a battery backup for your computer system? If so, you have an inverter.
Function
1. An inverter takes electrical current (DC) from a battery source and converts alternating current (AC). When the backup battery or inverter is connected to the wall, the 'adapter charges the battery. In the event of power loss, the inverter mode discharge cycles at a drain plug and powers of the component in the inverter. The drive also works the same way for solar powered homes, turning the drums made from solar cells into alternating current and cycling.
Types
2. There are two basic types of electric drives.
On board charging unit is completely autonomous and generally used for small loads less than 1000 watts.
Larger, full appliances capable of powering a house across from one unit. The battery for larger units is provided by large solar cells or windmills.
Features
3. All electrical inverter converts the power from alternating current to direct current. Some models have the ability to create large voltages than the nominal 120-volt household outlet can provide. Of course the higher the output voltage, the greater the demand on battery power.
Benefits
4. In remote locations where the cost of bringing electricity from the main network is prohibitive, electric inverter can be invaluable. The windmills and solar panels capable of generating large amounts of electricity and then stored for use in the battery system. The inverter allows the user to use this power when the demand requires.
Caution
5. power inverter can get extremely hot or warm water when under a heavy load and should be placed in well ventilated areas.
The storage area of the batteries for this type of system should be located away from sparks or open flames.
When the charge or discharge, inverter can emit a flammable gas. The fumes of the battery charger can also be extremely corrosive to skin, eyes and clothing.
